Technical Measures for Maintenance of Mine Roller Bit Drill Rods
Technical Measures for Maintenance of Mine Roller Bit Drill Rods
The mining roller bit drilling rig is currently a key piece of equipment for open-pit mining and has been widely used in various fields such as metallurgy, coal, chemical, and building materials. It holds high application value in drilling blast holes in medium- and large-scale open-pit mines. This equipment promotes the rotation of the drill bit through a rotary and pressurizing mechanism while applying a certain axial pressure to the drill bit. The stress generated by dynamic and static pressure effectively breaks the rock, while compressed air removes rock debris to create a blast hole. The drill rod, drill bit, and stabilizer together constitute the drill tool of the mining roller bit drilling rig.
However, in practical applications, due to long-term use or ineffective maintenance measures, the quality and performance of the mining roller bit drilling rig are severely affected, and its service life is significantly reduced. Therefore, it is necessary to take technical measures to improve the service life of the equipment.
Analyzing the forms of drill rod fracture in mining roller bit drilling rigs, it is mainly caused by cracks leading to drill rod failure or sudden breakage, which can cause other drill tools to become stuck in the hole, resulting in serious losses. Effective maintenance measures can be carried out from the following aspects:
1. When using a new drill rod, use a brand new threaded end to protect the thread and replace easily damaged threads in time to avoid issues such as air leakage, misalignment, or loosening.
2. During the initial drilling with a new drill rod, implement the "breaking in the thread" maintenance method: first apply an appropriate amount of thread oil, then use the drilling rig to tighten and release the thread, open the thread after applying thread oil, and repeat this process three times. This can effectively prevent wear, misalignment, and other failures.
3. During the use of the mining roller bit drilling rig, try to keep the drill rod straight on and below the ground to prevent uneven force on the threaded section, reducing the risk of wear or slipping. Anchor the drilling rig before use to prevent movement under stress during construction.
4. Tighten slowly during the threading process to minimize the possibility of overheating and wear.
5. During each threading process, tighten forcefully while also monitoring the state of the clamps, and deal with any abnormalities promptly.
